147. Pregnant!
How?
How?
How could she be pregnant, and when did it happen?
Heidi supported her head with both hands, shutting her eyes, hoping this was a dream.
She must still be lying unconscious on the street and was dreaming about all this.
“Young Lady,” The Doctor called out to her, looking confused. “Is anything wrong, are you alright?”
Reading Heidi’s demeanor, the Nurse said, “From the looks of it, you weren’t aware that you’re pregnant, right? How shocking, the fetus is over six weeks old.”
Heidi looked up, fear and dread filling up the vast space of her heart. “Did you make the wrong diagnosis? I- I can’t be pregnant, I’m not pregnant… How can I be pregnant when I didn’t miss even a period?”
Six weeks meant she’d been pregnant for more than a month which was ridiculous.
The hospital staff must have carried out the wrong tests or probably mixed up the specimen.
“Relax, don’t panic…”
Heidi didn’t even know that she was panicking until the Doctor pointed it out.
The kind Doctor sat on the chair beside the bed, giving her an understanding look. “It is possible for a woman to be pregnant even if she doesn’t miss her period. Some women experience light bleeding or spotting during early pregnancy, which they may mistake for a period.”
“Haven’t you noticed some of the other symptoms like exhaustion, dizziness, and fluctuating moods?” The Doctor asked.
Heidi went silent, letting the words sink in, unable to deny that she’d never experienced any of those symptoms.
Was she really pregnant?
One hand curled around her stomach and she stiffened.
What was she going to do now?
What would her family say? Would Mum and Dad be angry?
Was Grandpa going to be mad at her?
Lucas-
Lucas Harrison, the jerk! Damn him!
This was the biggest blow she’d ever received from that heartless man.
It was the wee hours of the morning when a sleek black car pulled over in front of Hope Hospital.
“Mr. Harrison, we’re here,” said the Driver to the man who sat in the backseat.
Lucas murmured, “Mm,” his expression impalpable.
He left the car and entered the hospital, his heart filled with anticipation.
“Mr. Harrison-”
“Oh, My God, it’s Lucas Harrison!”
“Lucas Harrison is here. Guys, I’m seeing wrongly, aren’t I?”
Murmured gasps and whispers spread across the hospital hallway. Many of the staff he walked into recognized him.
Lucas stopped, asking one of them. “A young lady came here last night, she sustained minor injuries, her name is Heidi. Have you seen her?”
Strangely, None of the staff admitted to seeing her.
Everyone he asked said the same answer, “We’re sorry, Mr. Harrison. We haven’t seen any patient with the name Heidi.”
That was confusing.
He’d personally dropped her last night in this neighborhood.
“Mr. Harrison, Dr. Shawn was here last night. Maybe he has seen the person you’re asking for,” one of the Nurses pointed out. “Please allow me to lead
you to his office.”
Lucas followed her to Dr. Shawn’s office and found the Young Doctor picking up his briefcase, about to leave.
The briefcase almost dropped from Dr. Shawn’s hand, seeing the powerful figure in his office.
“M-Mr. Harrison. Mr. Harrison, right? How may I help you?”
“Are you Dr. Shawn?” Lucas asked and the guy nodded.
“Last night, Heidi came to this hospital. Were you the one who attended to her?”
Dr. Shawn looked flabbergasted, his expression flashing between shock and apprehension. “Heidi? Who is Heidi?”
Lucas brought out his phone and showed the Doctor a photo.
The Doctor’s eyes widened with realization before he put on a confused look.
Staring back and forth between Lucas and the phone’s screen, he opened his mouth but no words came out for a while.
Finally, the Doctor cleared his throat and said, “No, Mr. Harrison. I’m afraid this lady didn’t come to this hospital.”
“Heidi didn’t come?” Lucas gave him a skeptical look.
The Doctor nodded rapidly, scratching his head. “She didn’t come here. Maybe she went to a different hospital.”
A different hospital?
