Shouldn’t Mess Up with My Hidden Heiress Ex-wife Chapter 146 by HusnaS

146. Toiling With Her Emotions

“Hey, it’s alright… I’m here.” His fingers trembled as he kept wiping her tears.

But Heidi only cried harder, throwing her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

“Mr. Harrison, we’ll take him away,” said one of the men.

“Make sure he never comes out until I give the orders,” Lucas gritted out.

Holding Heidi protectively, he left the place.

Heidi had so many questions in her mind, but she decided to stay silent, wrapping her arms around his neck for support and reveling in the moment of salvation.

Lucas left the tall building with her and dropped her in the passenger’s seat of his car.

“You’re wounded. Let me take you to the hospital.”

Heidi nodded in silent agreement to his request. She faced the other side, curling herself up on the seat, yet again wrapping both hands around her aching stomach.

Lucas didn’t strike up a conversation, driving silently. Heidi could feel his constant gaze on her. Now and then, he’d lean forward, probably to make sure that she was still awake.

Did Lucas care about her this much?

And did she become indebted to him because he just saved her life?

No one knew how he unlocked the elevator, no one knew how he got to the hotel, the only thing obvious was that he was out here in the middle of the night, doing all this because of her.

She turned sideways, watching his handsome side profile silently, hoping to sort out the turmoil of emotions inside her.

If only Lucas Harrison had cared about her this much in the past.

As the car neared the hospital, his phone suddenly rang, disrupting the silence.

Lucas grabbed it without glancing at the displayed name.

When he placed the phone in his ear, a loud cry came from the other end.

“Honey, why haven’t you returned home yet!? I don’t know what the maid fed me but I feel so dizzy! Please come back soon, I can’t bear the pain any longer!”

“My stomach hurts so much! I fell down the stairs- our baby’s life might be in danger!”

Heidi stiffened, the momentary fantasy she’d been reveling in cracking and shattering.

At the realization that Tracy was even living with Lucas now, the strings in her heart tightened.

Lucas pressed the brakes, the car coming to a rapid halt.

Looking as if he would burst out of the car and race down to the Villa, he suddenly paused, his gaze darting towards Heidi, seemingly contemplative.

Heidi’s lips cracked into a bitter smile.

“Your flawless mistress needs you, what are you waiting for?” Holding the door’s handle, she murmured and left the car.

Lucas called out her name but she neither glanced back nor reacted, limping on the street side.

The car’s engine started and he took a reverse and drove out of the area.

Listening to the fading noise of the car racing, Heidi’s defenses crashed down and fresh tears poured down her face.

Fool.

Fool.

‘You’re a fool, Heidi.’

She reprimanded herself, dragging her sore body towards the hospital ahead.

That heartless man was only toiling with her mind. Lucas Harrison would never let her be in peace, would he?

Always appearing out of nowhere and then crushing her pride immediately.

Her legs gave out and the dizziness came with a huge force.

On the cold empty street of the vast neighborhood, the lonely and fragile figure of a young woman lay on the street side, unconscious.

Opening her eyes, a white ceiling stared back at Heidi.

The cool air inside the room and the soft thin material underneath her made her wonder if she was still on the street or back in that Lunatic’s place.

Still studying the background, voices came from her left and she looked sideways to see a Young Man wearing a lab coat speaking to a lady who appeared to be the Nurse.

“Are you sure the test results are accurate? She sustained a lot of injuries.”

“Doctor Shawn, the lab scientists promised that her HCG levels are still very high. She didn’t sustain any internal injuries so both mother and child are in good condition.”

While Heidi wondered who they were speaking about, the Doctor threw a quick glance in her direction, and then his eyes brightened, seeing her awake.

“How do you feel now,” he asked.

Should Heidi reply “Fine” when her heart was suddenly beating strangely?

The Doctor smiled, flashing his perfect- set teeth. “Hey, you’re a great fighter. Didn’t expect you to wake up this early. It seems just like you, your baby is also a fighter.”

“Young Lady-” the Nurse approached. “- How did you end up like that? Doctor Shawn found you lying on the street,”

A baby?

Her baby?

Heidi’s ears caught no other word but that.

Was she pregnant?
