112. Appointing The CEO
“No one’s going to settle any differences.” Heidi folded her hands. “I no longer want to live with a selfish man who neither respects me nor my feelings.”
“Didn’t you say you love me?” Lucas felt dejected.
“Not anymore,” Heidi chortled. ” Feelings can change, Mr. Harrison.”
“Are you sure?” Lucas pulled her close by her waist, making their bodies collide. “Are you sure that there’s no longer room for me in your heart, Heidi?”
“Hey, let go of me.” Heidi panicked. ” Let me go otherwise I will scream and let the employees know that you’re assaulting me in your office!”
Lucas quickly let go of her, his eyes filled with helplessness. “Where are you off to? Where do you live? Who are you living with, Heidi?”
“It’s none of your business.” Heidi smoothened the creases on her cloth, glowering at him.
Lucas reminded her, “Remember I am still your husband since the divorce hasn’t been finalized yet.”
“You mean half-husband?” Heidi snickered. “It’s useless, you know.”
Lucas was about to reply when Heidi’s phone rang. Heidi answered it immediately seeing who was calling.
From the other end, Isla was excited. “I heard the AG Group has appointed the CEO already. Congratulations, Ms. Olsen. It’s no wonder you haven’t shown up at the brand yet. Are you still at the Shareholders meeting?”
Heidi’s brows furrowed. “The AG Group has appointed a CEO?”
“Huh? Didn’t you know?” Isla sounded confused as well.
Heidi’s vision darkened. Damnit! Harold Olsen.
She was right in thinking that her uncle was up to something.
She hung up the call, pushed Lucas out of her way, and left in a hurry.
At The AG Group.
Zach met Heidi on the way as she headed to the conference room.
“Those rotten shareholders. They all have a hand in it, Heidi. They didn’t even regard me as the president and went ahead and made that decision.”
“You didn’t know about it?” Heidi asked.
“No one told me. The Shareholders’ Meeting wasn’t supposed to happen today but they suddenly called for an emergency meeting, appointing the CEO.”
As they entered the conference room, they saw the Shareholders seated on their respective chairs, facing the stage where Natalie was giving a speech.
“This is no child’s play, Natalie. Step down now,” Zach commanded. “You know this position only belongs to Heidi.”
It was as if the board of directors came prepared. They all stood up and started speaking at once.
“Natalie Olsen is the best candidate for this position. No one can deny that she has been hard-working as the COO of the AG Group.”
“Unlike other people who only managed a small brand and thought it was enough act of bravery. How sure are we that she can manage the whole AG Group?”
“Zach Olsen, as the President of the Group, you should know the consequences of letting her manage this important position. We won’t let that happen.”
Harold Olsen was seated among them, and he shrugged carelessly. “As I have told you, the board of directors has the final say. Don’t blame me.”
“Dad, come on!” Even Zach believed that his father must have a hand in it. ” Why are you treating Heidi like this!”
“You don’t know anything.”
“You!” Zach was mad beyond words.
Heidi stopped him from arguing further by saying, “Don’t waste your energy, Zach.”
Stepping forward, she folded her hands, her cold gaze sweeping past each of the board of directors, especially her uncle.
“Since you guys have decided to do it the hard way, don’t blame me for taking action. I am more deserving of this position and you all know that. Without a doubt, I won’t rest until I expose all the hypocrites.”
With that said, Heidi left.
Zach followed her out of the company, and he took her inside his car, offering to drive her home.
“Cheer up, Heidi. Don’t let their actions get through you. It is expected of those bunch of hypocrites, anyway.” Sensing the gloom around her, Zach tried to coax her. “Don’t worry, I will not let them achieve their goal.”
“Stop it, Zach,” Heidi mumbled. ”
Natalie is your sister. Shouldn’t you be happy for her?”
